In year 10 pupils are taught in three mixed ability groups. These groups are offered a broad and balanced curriculum including English, Mathematics and Science and select up to two options from Film Studies, Art and Health and Social Care. In addition students take computing, PSHE, RE and citizenship. Students in DSP places also take ASDAN and have opportunities to work on their personal targets.
In year 11 pupils are currently taught in four groups. Students are offered accredited courses in English Language / Literature, Mathematics, Science, Art, Film Studies, Health & Social Care and Computing. The qualifications awarded to students include GCSE and BTEC, along with other level 1, level 2 and Entry Level awards. Students in DSP places also take ASDAN and have opportunities to work on their personal targets.
This is supplemented with enrichment activities such as gardening, cooking and music.
Some students need very personalised arrangement and our academic support team provide lessons to those students that need some additional support.
For all the students the curriculum is delivered in small groups in a nurturing environment. Learning is supported by a strong pastoral element in the school.
