Information for Students
If you are admitted to The Beacon you will have the opportunity to attend the education setting once deemed well enough to do so. As part of the ward programme it is expected that you will engage with the education team as part of your recovery.
At the beginning of your admission, staff from the education team will contact your school or college to request some information, including any work you might be missing and to keep them updated on your progress.
During education sessions you may get the opportunity to complete work from your school or college, or the education team here at The Beacon may set you some tasks/activities that are more appropriate to your current situation.
There are weekly ward rounds at which the education team will provide feedback about your education progress and every 4-6 weeks there is a wider meeting called a CPA to which your own school or college may attend. At this meeting your progress might be discussed along with any plans for your return to school or college upon discharge.
” Throughout my stay at the Beacon you accepted, cared and understood me and my illness. I cannot thank you enough for how much you have helped and supported me You are all so caring and compassionate and I know that when a new admission comes in you will take care of them. Thank you for teaching me how to love art and making me step out of my comfort zone and for helping me find my love for science again.”
