RISE – YOUNG ADULTS SUPPORT GROUP
RISE – Resilience * Independence * Self-reliance * Empowerment
RISE is a group for young adults aged 18-25, with additional needs who are making the transition from children’s services to adult services. The group aims to engage positively with the young people in an age appropriate, creative and innovative way that will empower them and increase their self- esteem.
This weekly group supported by a team of experienced youth workers and runs from within Blaby and Whetstone Youth Club on Warwick Rd.
There is a planned programme, with a varied content, that is based on key life-skills such as; shopping, managing money, planning meals, good decision making and making positive relationships. The group also gives parents the opportunity (should they wish) to socialise with other adults that also care for and support a child with additional needs – offering them a much-needed support network.
